Nepal PM pays rich tributes to martyrs, who laid their lives for the country, people

As part of weeklong Martyrs’ Day celebrations throughout the country, Prime Minister Prachanda visited Lainchaur in Kathmandu on Sunday. There, he garlanded a memorial.

PM, Speaker Onsari Gharti, government ministers, chief secretary of the government and chiefs of security agencies were present at the memorial service that Kathmandu Metropolitan City had organised on the Martyrs’ Day.

The Nepali state observes Magh 16 as Martyrs’ Day, paying rich tributes to martyrs, who laid their lives for Nepal and Nepalis. This practice started about six decades ago.
