Nepal make winning start to ACC Women’s Premier Cup

Kathmandu, June 3

Nepal made a winning start to the ACC Women’s Premier Cup underway in Malaysia, defeating Qatar by eight wickets in their opening match on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 77 runs, Nepal reached 77/2 in just 10.5 overs. Opener Bindu Rawal top-scored for Nepal with 33 runs, while Puja Mahato remained unbeaten on 28. Captain Indu Barma was unbeaten on six runs. For Qatar, Shahreen Nawab Khan and Khadija Ahmad claimed one wicket each. Earlier, after losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Qatar were bowled out for 76 runs in 16.5 overs.

Opener Getrude Chandiru was the top scorer for Qatar with 25 runs, while captain Aisha contributed 10. For Nepal, Rubina Chhetry took three wickets. Kabita Kunwar, Puja Mahato and Riya Sharma picked up one wicket each. Four Qatar batters were dismissed through run-outs.

Nepal will face Bhutan in their second match on Thursday.
