Nepal: Heavy rainfall throws life out of gear in western Chitwan

Heavy rainfall continuing since Thursday night has affected life in western parts of Chitwan district. Local administration has appealed people to stay alert in view of possibility of devastating floods.

Like in previous years, vehicular movement has come to a halt along the Madi-Bharat route due to heavy rainfall, journalist Surya Pathak said.

Santosh Paneru, a local of Madi, said vehicular movement has come to a halt along the route as flood has swept away section of the road close to a bridge spanning across Chitai Khola.

District disaster management committee has called people to stay on high alert as water level has risen alarmingly at Magui, Ghangar, Parui, Chitai and Bandarmudhe streams. The rainfall has been continuing since 1 pm, Thursday.
