Nepal-European Union Film Festival

Kathmandu, March 21

The 13th edition of the Nepal-European Union Film Festival kicked off on Wednesday, at the CDC Mall, Kathmandu. The four-day festival will conclude on Saturday.

Irish film The Banshees of Inisherin was screened during the opening.

In this edition of the festival, 9 European films and 11 Nepali short films will be screened.

This edition of the film festival is running under the theme Fifty Years of EU-Nepal Relations: Celebrating Cultural Diversity.

During the opening Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, Dr Joëlle Hivonnet said the festival aimed to share the diverse culture, lifestyle and cinematic creativity of Europe with the Nepali audience in Kathmandu, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim.

Actor Upasana Singh Thakuri was officially announced as the ambassador of the festival at the event.

The festival will also take place in Sudurpaschim province on April 10 and 11.

The film screening will be held in the hall of Sudurpaschim University.

Organisers said 15 films will be screened in Nepalgunj in April. The films will also be screened on April 19 and 20 in Birendranagar, Karnali Province.
