Kathmandu, April 27

The government of Nepal has barred foreign nationals from using the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu in transit to go to another destination.

The decision has been made in its bid to control the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

The Department of Immigration Director Jhanka Nath Dhakal says the rule will come into effect from Wednesday midnight until the next notice.

Recent reports have claimed a lot of Indian nationals are using the airport to fly to various Gulf countries as India has suspended international flights.

However, other international flights for the passengers who have Kathmandu as the final destination and who are leaving Kathmandu will continue regularly, for now, the department clarifies.
