Kathmandu, July 10

Bangladesh’s football association has postponed the friendly match against Nepal slated for this Friday and Sunday.

According to Nepal’s FA, the Bangladesh association said the matches had to be postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. The friendlies were confirmed by Bangladesh last week, and Nepal had already announced its squad for the matches.

Although, the Bangladeshi side has not specified the reason for postponing the matches, ANFA CEO Indraman Tuladhar said the matches may have been put off because clubs there are preparing for their league, and they would be reluctant to release players on national duty.

Similarly, recent attacks on civilians in Bangladesh and the heightened security there could also have been taken into consideration.

According to ANFA, the matches could take place in late August.
