NCP’s Dahal-Nepal camp, Nepali Congress announce separate protest programmes against House dissolution

Kathmandu, December 24

The Dahal-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party and the main opposition Nepali Congress have announced separate protest programmes against the government’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives.

Central committee meetings of the two parties held in Kathmandu made the decisions on Thursday afternoon.

The NCP camp led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal decided to launch protest programmes of different forms in the Kathmandu valley from Friday. The party would stage demonstrations across the country on coming Tuesday (December 29), according to its spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

The party has formed a 2,501-member central movement mobilisation committee under Shrestha’s leadership.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress also decided to organise demonstrations on coming Monday (December 28) across the country. The party would stage protests in all 165 electoral constituencies of the country that day, according to the party’s general secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka.
