NADA Auto Show 2023: Here are a few exciting four-wheeler attractions you shouldn’t miss

After a hiatus of four years, the NADA Auto Show made a comeback in 2023. This year’s NADA Auto Show is truly electrifying. In the literal sense, the show was full of electric vehicles. This year’s auto-expo has everything, from small compact family cars to sports cars, lightweight electric scooters to classic petrol-powered bikes.

Unlike previous editions, it was evident that electric vehicles had taken the expo by storm. However, we could also sense some rumblings of engines revving in the corners.

What was odd though was brands like Hero, Yamaha, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Renault, Jeep, Honda, Volkswagen, Skoda, Isuzu, Subaru, Peugeot, Mazda, and BMW decided not to take part in the NADA Auto Show 2023.

Despite that, there were a lot of new and exciting vehicles at the NADA Auto Show 2023. Here are a few of them:

TATA Tiago EV and TATA Punch

TATA unveiled two new cars, the TATA Tiago EV and the TATA Punch at the NADA Auto Show 2023. The Tiago EV is a much-awaited electric car for its price range. TATA has taken the electric market by storm in Nepal with the TATA Nexon. The Tiago EV for its price range is set to compete with other brands in the same price range category. The Tiago EV has 5 different variants starting from Rs 2.199 million to Rs 2.799 million. The EV claims a range of between 250 to 320 kilometres according to the battery and motor capacity.

Another sub-compact SUV, TATA Punch was also launched at the NADA Auto Show 2023 in Nepal. The Punch is a good option for those looking for a stylish and rugged subcompact SUV. It offers a good balance of features and performance. It is set to be available in four variants. The price range starts at Rs 3.399 million and goes up to Rs 4.349 million.

Mahindra Scorpio N

The Mahindra Scorpio is a legendary car that took over Nepal. A Scorpio is everywhere in Nepal. At the NADA Auto Show 2023, the new model of the Scorpio, the Scorpio N, has been unveiled. The car was launched in March, with prices revealed in July.

The SUV is built on the new Mahindra Scalable and Modular Architecture (SMA) and boasts a modern design with a striking front grille, sharp LED headlamps, and a robust body. The car has garnered significant attention, and a few can already be spotted on the road.

The older versions of the Scorpio and the Mahindra XUV700 are also on display at the NADA Auto Show 2023.

Hyundai Exter

Hyundai Nepal has also shown a sneak peek of its new car at the NADA Auto Show 2023. The company has unveiled the Hyundai Exter which will be launched in Nepal during the festive season. The Exter is also a sub-compact SUV that was launched in India in July 2023. It has got the new Hyundai look with a stylish design. The Exter is based on the Hyundai Venue platform. It has a lot of variants and can be expected in the mid-range price category.

Other notable Hyundai cars in the Show are the Hyundai Grand i10, Hyundai Venue, Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Kona and the World Car of the Year 2022, the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Seres Mini EV and Seres 3

A new car brand, Seres, has made its entry into Nepal with two fresh models. Seres cars are Chinese-made electric vehicles that are marketed in the United States through a US subsidiary. The two EVs that were on display, the Seres 3 and the Seres Mini EV, are quite popular in Europe.

The Seres Mini EV is a small electric hatchback that was launched in China in 2020. It is a small and affordable electric car that is designed to be a city car with a range of 180 kilometres and 220 kilometres. It has three variants whose pricing starts from Rs 1.399 million to Rs 1.799 million.

The Seres 3 is an SUV. It is available in two options and is priced at Rs 4.799 million and 4.99 million. Both the options have an NEDC range of 405 kilometres and differ in premium features and safety.

Citroen C3 and EC3

Citroen Nepal showcased three cars at the NADA Auto Show 2023, the Citroen C5 Aircross, the Citroen C3 and the electric version of the C3, the Citroen eC3.

The most attention-grabbing model is the Citroen eC3, primarily due to it being an EV and its attractive price point. The all-electric subcompact hatchback is available in two options and is priced at Rs 3.299 million and Rs 3.499 million.

The C5 Aircross is a luxury car and is available in only one model in Nepal. It is priced at Rs 13.5 million.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Suzuki Fronx

Maruti Suzuki showcased its latest additions, the Suzuki Jimny and the Suzuki Fronx at the NADA Auto Show 2023. Maruti Suzuki has two other cars on display – the Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Suzuki Brezza.

However, all eyes were on the Suzuki Jimny which has seen both positive and negative responses in Nepal and India. The Suzuki Jimny price starts from Rs 5.999 million and goes up to Rs 6.449 million depending on the variant.

Suzuki Fronx the compact SUV starts from Rs 3.999 million and goes up to Rs 4.299 million, whereas the Brezza starts from Rs 4.499 million and goes up to Rs 5.729 million. The Grand Vitara starts from Rs 5.999 million and goes up to Rs 9.729 million in Nepal.

Maxus MIFA 9

Maxus MIFA 9, a full-size 7-seater electric MPV is also on display at the NADA Auto Show 2023. Originally unveiled in China in 2022, it stands as the inaugural vehicle constructed on Maxus’s innovative MIFA platform. Boasting a claimed range of approximately 500 kilometres on a single charge, this electric MPV impresses with its sleek and sharp edges, exuding a truly cool aesthetic.

Also on display from Maxus was the T60 pickup truck, available in Nepal for Rs 7.799 million.

Nissan Magnite AMT, Nissan Navara Pro 4X and Nissan Leaf

Nissan launched the automatic manual transmission version of the Nissan Magnite at the NADA Auto Show 2023. Nissan Magnite is a sporty SUV which is quite popular in Nepal. The other main attraction was the Nissan Navara Pro 4X, a pickup truck which is also slowly gaining attention.

The Nissan Navara Pro 4X will cost people Rs 12.5 million. Nissan has also showcased its electric hatchback, the Nissan Leaf. The Nissan Leaf has a range of about 311 kilometres and costs Rs 6.499 million. On show is also the Nissan Kicks.

Kia Sportage X-Line

Kia launched the 5th-generation Sportage X-Line in Nepal at the NADA Auto Show 2023. It features a muscular design with a distinctive grille and futuristic lighting elements. Its interior combines luxury and tech innovation, while the Sportage X-Line offers a 2.0L petrol engine, advanced features, and spacious dimensions with 466 litres of boot space. Kia also showcased the Kia Seltos and the Kia Sorento along with the Sportage X-Line.

Wuling Air EV

Another small-sized electric car showcased at the NADA Auto Show 2023 is the Wuling Air EV. The Wuling Air EV is available in two options; standard range and long range which gives a range of 200 kilometres and 300 kilometres respectively. The price starts at Rs 2.499 million and goes up to Rs 3.099 million depending on the variant. The electric car was launched back in December of 2022 and has got a positive response.

GWM Ora 03 EV

GWM also presented three cars at the NADA Auto Show 2023: the Haval 6, the Haval Jolion, and the GWM Ora EV. The main highlight was of course the GWM Ora 03 EV. The hatchback electric car is already loved by many people with the dual tone colour on both the exterior and the interior. The GWM Ora 03 EV is priced at Rs 4.749 million and gives a maximum range of about 400 kilometres.

MG4 EV, MG ZS EV and the MG Comet EV

MG has launched its new electric car, the MG4 EV in Nepal. The EV was on test a few weeks back and has made its official debut in the NADA Auto Show 2023. The new electric hatchback is based on the company’s modular scalable platform (MSP). It is available in two variants: Comfort and Luxury, which cost Rs 4149 million and Rs 5.899 million respectively.

Also at the expo was MG ZS EV, available in three variants and featuring five colour options. Another highlight was the MG Comet EV, which is essentially the Wuling Air EV with MG badging, differing in battery capacity and motor power.

Ford Next Gen Everest, Ford Next Gen Ranger and Ford Next Gen Raptor Ranger

Ford also showcased its popular SUV and pickup trucks the Next-Gen Ford Everest, Next-Gen Ford Ranger and Next-Gen Ranger Raptor at the NADA Auto Show 2023.

The next-generation Everest is more spacious and comfortable and is priced at Rs 24 million. The next-generation Ford Ranger is already a loved pickup truck from Ford and can be seen with a new design and specs. It has three variants and the pricing starts from Rs 11.090 million and goes up to Rs 15.29 million. The next-generation Ford Ranger Raptor as we all know is the ultimate pickup truck and is available in one variant price at Rs 22.1 million.

BYD Dolphin and BYD Seal

One of the most awaited and anticipated cars at the NADA Auto Show 2023 was from BYD. BYD launched the BYD Dolphin. The BYD Dolphin has one variant and has a range of about 340 kilometres.

Priced at Rs 3.980 million, it offers admirable specifications for its cost. It is available in four different colour options and has a lot of features.

Another car featured in the expo from BYD was the BYD Seal. It is a sleek electric car which has a few variants available with a range ranging from 500 to 700 kilometres.

Neta S, Neta U Pro and Neta GT

Neta actually had some of the best cars on show at the NADA Auto Show 2023. The Neta S, Neta U Pro and the Neta GT are sure to be one of the attractions in the expo.

The Neta S marks Neta’s debut in the sedan segment, offering three distinct variants, boasting an impressive range of up to 715 km and a power output of 340 kW. Although showcased at the NADA Auto Show 2023, it will not be hitting the Nepal market anytime soon.

The Neta GT, a sporty electric coupe, offers an impressive range of up to 580 kilometres. However, it is not slated for release in Nepal. This model is available in both RWD and 4WD versions, with power outputs ranging from 170 kW to 340 kW.

The Neta U Pro, an electric SUV, stood as a significant highlight from Neta at the NADA Auto Show 2023. This electric SUV is anticipated to make its presence in Nepal in the near future.
