NADA 2016: 12 new cars to look out for during Nepal’s premier auto show

Nepal’s premier auto show, NADA, is all set to begin on Tuesday with 36 brands showcasing their latest offerings. Amidst the sea of vehicles, however, there are a few that stand out from the rest in the merit of their features and novelty. 

Here we look at 12 new cars that will be featured at NADA 2016 (in no particular order).

1.

The Datsun Redi Go

Type: Entry-level hatchback

With an unique fusion of compact crossover and hatchback, the entry-level Redi Go urban-cross from Datsun, is priced at Rs  1,399,000 (basic variant). The car has a 800 cc petrol engine, and according to the company, the car gives 25.17 km per liter. It can speed up to 140 km/hr.

The Japanese car made a comeback to the Nepali market two years ago with the Datsun GO.  It has sold more than 800 units of the Datsun GO in Nepal says Pioneer MotoCorp, the authorised seller of Datsun cars in Nepal.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

Type: SUV

The Vitara Brezza is the first SUV to come to Nepal with dual tone feature. The car has a powerful DDiS-200 engine with the mileage of 24.3 km per liter.

Ideal for Nepali roads, the five-seater has an excellent ground clearance of 1.98 mm. It comes with Apple CarPlay, cruise control, and other best in class features. According to the company, the car comes in seven variants, with the price ranging from Rs 3,599,000 to Rs 4,440,000. All variants come with diesel engine.

Suzuki Baleno

Type: Premium Hatchback

Suzuki Baleno is one of the newest entrants in the premium hatchback segment in Nepal. The car comes with a 1200 CC VVT petrol engine, and according to the company, the mileage stands at 13 km per liter.

With a starting price of the car is Rs 2,869,000, Baleno is available in Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants. According to the company, buyers of this car will get two years of servicing for free along with a four-year warranty. It is available in six colours.

 Renault Kwid

Type: Entry-level Hatchback

French carmaker Renault, new entrants to the Nepali auto market, have had a pretty good run in neighbouring India, especially with their compact SUV Duster.

The Kwid comes with an 800 cc engine, and is priced at Rs 1,689,000* to Rs 2,100,000. Renault says the Kwid is the most fuel-efficient car in its segment and gives 25.17 km per liter of mileage.

Type: SUV

The car is available in both diesel and petrol variants. It comes with soft-touch dashboard, crimson-black interior, gunmetal finish alloy wheels, automatic climate control and other exciting features.

The car is being launched at the NADA auto show by Vishal Group’s Advanced Automobiles Pvt Ltd, the authorised seller of Renault vehicles in Nepal. The company is yet to announce the price of the car.

Honda BRV

Type: SUV

The Honda BRV is a compact premium SUV from the popular Japanese carmaker. This seven-seater is available in different variants and six colours. According to the company, the starting price for the car is Rs 3,999,000.

Mahindra KUV 100

Type: Mini SUV

Indian carmaker Mahindra have made a name for themselves in the premium SUV market. The KUV 100 is their small-size SUV which is they have branded as the ‘Young SUV’.

The car comes with a 1198 CC engine, and is available in both diesel and petrol variants. Agni Incorporated is the authorised seller of Mahindra cars in Nepal.

The car’s petrol variant provides fuel efficiency of 18 km per liter, while the diesel variant provides 25 km, the company says. Although the KUV looks like a cross-over, it is actually a mini SUV, the company says. While the starting price of the petrol variant is Rs 2,695,000, that of the diesel variant is Rs 3,145,000.

Mahindra TUV 300

Type: SUV

This seven-seater car is one of the most popular offerings of the Indian carmaker. The bold front grille with chrome inserts lend an aggressive look to this car. Powered with the mHawk engine with twin-stage turbo, the car offers good interior room, and includes powerful safety and comfort technology.

It has a ground clearance of 191 mm, ideal for Nepali roads. Prices start at Rs 3,595,000.

Tata TIAGO

Type: Hatchback

The Tata Tiago enters the Nepali market just in time for the auto show. The hatchback is available in petrol variant in Nepal. The car has a ground clearance of 170 mm.

According to the company, the car’s interiors have been crafted with utmost precision for a premium feel. The starting price of this car is Rs 2,225,000. Sipradi sells Tata cars in Nepal.

10.

Hyundai Tucson

Type: Premium SUV 

Although Hyundai’s Tucson has been present in Nepali market for sometime, the company is introducing an upgrade in four variants.

The car has ground clearance of 172 mm, and a 62 liter tank. Its starting price is Rs 8,196,000. Laxmi Intercontinental sells Hyundai cars in Nepal.

11.

MG Motors

Type: Hatchback

With the appointment of SLR Techno and Trade as their authorised seller in Nepal, British carmaker MG are entering Nepal with NADA show this year. 

During the NADA show, the company plans to launch two premium hatchbacks, the MG 3 and the MG 6 cars. The starting price for the MG 3 (petrol) is Rs 3,660,000 while that of the MG 6 (petrol) is Rs 5,750,00.

KIA Sportage

Type: Premium SUV

KIA’s Sportage has been around in the Nepali market for sometime now. The company has introduced Sportage with new looks, just in time for the NADA auto show.

The 1999 cc car gives 8 km per liter. It is available in both diesel and petrol variants. Starting price is Rs 7,685,00.
