A girl who had been missing for the past 24 hours has been found dead in Dhanusha.

The body of six-year-old Rakhi Yadav from Sabala Municipality in Dhanusha was found without clothes in a waterlogged pit. The clothes she was wearing were found near the ditch.

SP Mitra Bandhu Sharma informed that Yadav’s body was found at 7 pm on Thursday. Sharma said that the suspicious nature of how the body was found has prompted an investigation to be initiated.

According to Kari Ram Yadav, Mayor of Sabala Municipality, the girl was participating in a chariot procession on the occasion of Bibaha Panchami on Wednesday.

The girl was on a chariot when she was taken down by two to three men. After everyone returned home, the search for the girl commenced. Concurrently, the parents requested the local police office to initiate a search.

During the search, the girl’s body was found in a pit. The body was sent to Province Hospital Janakpur for post-mortem.

The police reported that the two young boys who took the girl off the chariot have been arrested and are currently undergoing interrogation. The police have not disclosed their names at this time.
