Kathmandu, September 2

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel has directed officials of the Tribhuvan University to take initiatives for talks with students of the Institute of Medicine.

The IoM students have recently padlocked the institute’s office raising concerns over various issues including the entrance exam fee for MBBS. The entrance exam has been scheduled for this Saturday.

After the students’ protest pushed the exam into uncertainty, the minister, also the ex-officio pro-chancellor of the university, issued the directive. He assured that the government would be ready to address ‘genuine’ concerns of the students.

Similarly, the minister also directed officials of the Kathmandu University to hold talks with protesting professors and staff. The protestors have padlocked offices of the KU officials for over three weeks.
