Minister: Already sent diplomatic note to countries testing Covid-19 vaccine to secure Nepal’s share

Health Minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal

Kathmandu, November 25

The government has already sent a diplomatic note to governments of various countries conducting the third-phase trials of vaccines against Covid-19 for obtaining the vaccine for Nepal, informs Health Minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal.

Dhakal says the diplomatic note has been sent to India, China, the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, and Australia, among the countries.

He says the government is working on to resolve the problems created by the pandemic on the basis of the state’s capacity and means and resources at its disposal.

“Reaching out to a large number of patients in home isolation and taking care of them is the major challenge at present,” he says.

The government has given priority to the work of managing beds with oxygen supply and medicines at the maximum number of hospitals, he claims, adding there is a plan of bringing the vaccine against Covid-19 into the country through a government-to-government agreement or through facilitation by organisations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO)..
