Kathmandu, September 1
Fatema Z Sumar, the vice-president for the Department of Compact Operations of the United States government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is visiting Nepal next week.
The senior official is coming to Nepal at a time when major political forces, as well as the public of the country, are divided on whether Nepal’s parliament should endorse the MCC grant agreement signed between the two governments in 2017.
Sources say she is coming to Nepal to take stock of the progress of the pact implementation in Nepal.
She is expected to hold talks with top political leaders of the country including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
