Kathmandu, March 6
A massive fire broke out in Damauli, the Tanahun district headquarters, on Sunday. Properties worth millions have been reduced to ashes, but no human casualty has been reported so far.
The fire started from the warehouse of a construction material shop at around 10 am today. As a fire engine could not reach there due to the narrow street, the authorities sought the help of the Ministry of Home Affairs to send a helicopter to control the fire.
Accordingly, a helicopter from Simrik Air went there from Kathmandu to pour water. As of 1 pm, the fire is yet to be under control and locals, hence, are terrorised, informs Chief District Officer Bishwa Prakash Aryal.
Damauli-based journalist Krishna Neupane says efforts are underway to demolish a hut to clear the way for the fire engine too.
