Kathmandu, May 31

The post-mortem report of Manisha Gharti Magar has been released. However, the report still does not verify if Magar’s death was a suicide or a murder.

Manisha, 17, younger sister of footballer Bimal Gharti Magar, was found dead at her residence in Nawalparasi on May 26.

Manisha’s body was brought to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) for post-mortem. The report of the post-mortem was handed over to the police on Tuesday morning, according to Dr. Harihar Wosti, head of the forensic department at TUTH.

In a conversation with OnlineKhabar, Dr. Wosti stated that “pressure in the neck area” had been the cause of Manisha’s death. “There are minor injuries in the cheek area,” Wosti said. “There is a 25 cm mark around the neck area that looks as if it was caused by a shawl.”

The report has concluded Magar’s death as caused by hanging. “However, only police investigation can verify if the hanging was voluntary or forced,” Wosti said.

The police had arrested Ashish Chaudhary in connection to the case earlier. Chaudhary, Magar’s boyfriend, told the police that the two had been involved in a disagreement earlier during the night of the incident. However, Chaudhary has denied of the allegations. According to Chaudhary, Manisha had already been dead by the time he entered her room later during the night of the incident.

Ashish Chaudhary will go undergo a polygraph test later today.
