Lawmaker Surya Bahadur KC, who founded Rara noodle, no more

House of Representatives member Surya Bahadur KC is no more. The 63-year-old lawmaker breathed his last at his house in Pokhara on Monday night.

KC was suffering from diabetes and hypertension.

He was elected to the House as a Nepali Congress lawmaker under the proportional representation system.

KC, who worked as a Rastra Prajatantra Party leader for several years, was also elected the chief of Pokhara city, during the Panchayat era. He was elected a Constituent Assembly member representing the RPP in 2008. It was just before the 2017 elections that he defected to the Nepali Congress.

KC was also renowned as an industrialist. The president of Him Shreee Foods, this man had started Rara, Nepal’s first instant noodle brand, some decades ago. Some people even consider Rara the first noodle brand in South Asia.

He was also involved in hydropower and banking sectors.
