Baitadi, September 4
A landslide has occurred in the Bhattar area of Apihimal Rural Municipality-2 in Darchula, affecting the flow of the Chaulani River, Chief District Officer Bartaraj Poudel said.
Poudel said authorities were preparing to alert settlements along the riverbank to remain vigilant as the river’s flow had been affected. “An official assessment of the damage at the landslide site has not yet been received. Police have been dispatched to the area,” Poudel said.
The District Administration Office, Darchula, issued a public notice on Friday warning that a landslide from above had buried part of the Chaulani River and that continued landslides could potentially block the river.
The administration has urged residents living along the riverbank to remain alert and take precautions against possible risks, including the possibility that a blocked river could suddenly burst through the blockage.
