A landslide has buried the entrance of the Siddhababa tunnel.

Kathmandu, July 26

The tunnel portal, the entrance of the under-construction Siddhababa tunnel route, has been damaged by a landslide.

The landslide buried the tunnel entrance near the Siddhababa temple in Palpa.

The engineer of the project, Yudhisthir Panthi, said that the landslide has caused heavy damage to the site adding that he has not visited the site after the damages.

He added that details of the losses are not confirmed as yet.

The China State Construction Engineering Corporation is building the project at the cost of Rs 7.34 billion.

It is said that the project’s officials had worked on the concrete slab just four days ago despite Nepali technicians’ suggestions not to carry out the job in time of rain.

The occurrence of a landslide earlier had caused the outlet of the tunnel in the Palpa section to be buried. Now, the current blockage at the Butwal site of the project is likely to result in increased construction costs.

Currently, 80 workers are working on a daily basis on the site.
