Biratnagar, July 29
The Koshi Provincial Government has announced financial assistance of Rs 200,000 for the families of those who lost their lives in the incident that occurred in Devanaganj, Sunsari.
Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki announced this during an all-party meeting held on Wednesday.
The government also announced that each injured person will receive Rs 50,000 in relief assistance. In addition, families whose homes, shops, or other properties were damaged by arson will also receive Rs 50,000 each.
The all-party meeting adopted an eight-point resolution in response to the situation that arose following the incident on July 25. Organised by the Koshi Provincial Government, the meeting focused on maintaining social harmony, peace, and security.
The government decided that political leaders, social organisations, and administrative authorities would work together to preserve social harmony and communal unity. It also resolved to hold all-party and all-stakeholder meetings at the local government level and implement programs aimed at strengthening social cohesion.
To promote reconciliation and harmony at the community level, the government will coordinate with local authorities to organise goodwill marches, public awareness campaigns, and other related activities.
The meeting also decided that organisations representing all religious communities should issue a joint appeal for peace and play an active role in coordination and facilitation. It further called for heightened security vigilance against any undesirable activities that could occur along the border. It requested the federal government to support the treatment of the injured and provide relief to the families of those who died.
