
Kathmandu, October 26
Amid widespread criticism, the name of Khagendra Sunar, who had been recommended for the position of Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, has been removed from the list of ministers.
According to sources, Prime Minister Sushila Karki has decided not to appoint him as a minister for now.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Karki had recommended Sunar along with three others for ministerial appointments.
However, it was found that Sunar was facing several criminal charges and was listed as a fugitive by the police.
He had also faced widespread criticism on social media.
A source close to the Prime Minister said his name was removed considering the potential problems that could arise from appointing a person with a controversial image.
Similarly, Ganpatilal Shrestha, who had been recommended as the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, will also not be taking the oath today. The reason for the suspension of his oath taking in has not been disclosed.
Shrestha’s ministry assignment had recently been changed.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sudha Sharma Gautam and Bablu Gupta will take oath today. Gautam has been assigned the Ministry of Health and Population, while Gupta will take charge of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
