Kathmandu traffic police to shut ‘illegal’ bus ticket counters

Kathmandu, April 28

Metropolitan Traffic Police has said it will be closing down all bus ticket counters established without following due procedures, within a week.

Traffic police say that the ‘illegal’ bus ticket counters in Gaushala, Kalanki, Koteshwor and Sundhara have been disrupting traffic; hence, they want to remove them.

This decision was made during a meeting of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division with transport entrepreneurs at the  District Administration Office last week.

In the meeting, the police also asked the counter workers selling tickets in Naya Bus Park should be wearing proper uniform and should carry an identity card.

“We will be removing the the counters running without a licence within a week. We’ve asked them already and if they don’t remove it in a week, we will be using force,” said Chief of Metropolitan Traffic Police Divison, SSP Basanta Kumar Panta.

Police have also asked the bus operators to compulsorily issue tickets.
