Kathmandu Spikers signs Turkish player for EWVL

Kathmandu Spikers have signed Turkish player Pelin Erokte for the Vatsalya Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL) 2024 as their foreign player.

The left-handed opposite hitter, Pelin Erokte, is known for her powerful attacks and strong defensive abilities, which Kathmandu Spikers believe will strengthen their team.

Pelin has represented Turkey in several international competitions, including the European U16 Championship, European U17 Championship, and the World U19 Championship. In 2022, she also competed in the European Championships for the U18, U19, and U21 age groups.

At the club level, Pelin has experience playing in the Turkish Kadınlar Volleyball League, Turkey Cup, Turkey Kadınlar One League, and the Turkey Kadınlar Volleyball Two League Cup.

She has earned individual awards such as the Most Valuable Player in BVA U16, Best Server in BVA U17, and Best Opposite in the European U17 Championship, showcasing her contributions to both her national and club teams.

Standing at 190 cm and aged 20, Pelin has an impressive record as a player, indicating her talent and potential in Turkish and international volleyball.

Kathmandu Spikers’ COO Sudiksha Adhikari expressed confidence that Pelin’s signing would strengthen the team, stating that their goal is to build a strong and balanced squad. Adhikari believes Pelin’s international experience will be beneficial for Kathmandu Spikers in the league.

After joining the EWVL, Pelin shared her excitement about playing in Nepal, saying, “I feel honoured to be part of such a dynamic and ambitious team. Volleyball is not just a game for me; it’s a passion. I’m ready to bring my experience to Nepal and help the Spikers compete at a higher level. I’ve heard a lot about the spirit of the Everest Women’s Volleyball League, and I am eager to contribute to my team’s success and meet the fans.”

The first edition of the EWVL, organised by Infinity Dreams, will take place at the Dasharath Rangashala Covered Hall in Tripureshwar from September 30 to October 5, featuring six teams.

Kathmandu Spikers, with Usha Bhandari as their marquee player, will kick off their league journey against Lalitpur Queens in the opening match. Here’s the schedule for EWVL:
