Kathmandu Metropolitan City urges residents to keep waste at home on 3 Dashain days

Kathmandu, October 16

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has urged residents to keep household waste safely at home instead of disposing of it outside on three days during Dashain.

The metropolis has requested residents to store their waste at home on Kartik 1, 3 and 4, as waste collection services will not be available on those days.

Sarita Rai, chief of the metropolis’s Environment Management Department, said waste collection would be suspended because sanitation workers would be on leave to celebrate Dashain, Nepal’s major festival.

The department has also advised residents to separate biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and store them in different containers or bags.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City said waste collection and management services would operate as usual on all other days.
