The Covid-19 vaccination drive for children aged between 12 and 17 will begin in Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts from Tuesday.

The vaccination drive will take place for a week and the children will be given the Pfizer vaccine. Bhaktapur started its vaccination drive on Friday.

Lalitpur’s chief district officer, Ghanashyam Upadhyay, says his office has asked local governments to coordinate with health offices to ensure that the vaccination drive goes smoothly.

“The health office and local governments will decide which school will have the vaccine centre on which day. We’ve asked PABSON and NPABSON to help,” says Upadhyay. “Our aim is to ensure that all children from that age group are vaccinated by Monday.”

Kathmandu District Health Office’s chie Shambhu Kumar Kafle says his office has already sent the vaccines to local units and has asked all parents to take their children to their respective vaccination centres to get jabbed against Covid-19.
