Kathmandu administration bans demos near Election Commission

Kathmandu, April 2

Kathmandu’s district administration has banned demonstrations in and around six places around the Valley, including the road adjacent to the Election Commission.

The order comes within a few after the Baburam Bhattrai-led Naya Shakti Nepal party tried to organise protests outside the Commission’ office in Kantipath. Bhattrai and other leaders of the party were detained in the process.

Similarly, the administration has reminded that areas near Shital Niwas, the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar and the Parliament building are out of bounds for protests of any kind.
