The Jhulaghat area of Baitadi, a border crossing connecting Nepal and India, is at risk of landslides. The area has been put at risk after landslides began falling from a road near the market due to continuous rainfall.
Locals said landslides have been occurring along the road near Jhulaghat market since last night as rain continues to fall. Baitadi Chief District Officer Mina Aryal said the market area and road are at high risk of landslides as debris continues to fall.
She said Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force have been deployed to facilitate movement in the area as the risk continues to increase. Authorities have urged residents to remain alert, warning that the risk of landslides could increase as rainfall continues.
