Janakpur secures semi-final berth

17 Feb, Kathmandu: Janakpur-7 on Tuesday defeated Nepalgunj-5 by ten runs to enter the semi final as the topper of Group ‘B’ in a match held at Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur in the ongoing Women’s National Cricket Tournament.

Janakpur will now face the first runner-up of Group ‘A’, Baitadi-6, in the semi final.

Likewise, in another match held at Pulchowk Engineering College, Biratnagar-1 defeated Kathmandu-3. The second team of Group B will be determined after a match on Wednesday.

Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Janakpur posted a total of 118 runs losing all wickets in 38.5 overs in the 40 overs play. Nepalgunj could only manage 108 runs being all out in 32.5 overs.

Meanwhile, in the match played in Pulchowk, the team Biratnagar too chose to bat first after winning the toss. It posted 200 runs on board with two wickets to spare in 40 overs. Kathmandu batting second was bundled out in 38.1 overs with 157 runs on board.

The tournament’s final match under Group divisions will be played on Wednesday. Dhangadi-9 and Biratnagar-1 will slug it out in the match scheduled to take place at Kirtipur Cricket Stadium while Nepalgunj-5 and Kathmandu-3 will be pitted against one another at another match in Pulchowk. RSS
