CPN coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has said that, in the context of the Rasuwa floods, information exchange with China should be made a priority.
He said this at an all-party meeting underway at Singha Durbar.
“What’s happening on information exchange from the China side? Let’s make this a priority,” Prachanda said.
Those present at the all-party meeting include RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa, CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, CPN Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda,” RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden, RPP parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi, and JSP Nepal leader Mahantha Thakur, among others.
Also present are Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle, RSP parliamentary party leader Ganesh Parajuli, RSP General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya, RSP Chief Whip Kabindra Burlakoti, and RSP spokesperson Jagadish Kharel, among others.
Speaking at the meeting, Prachanda urged that the public be kept informed: “What is the risk and possibility of further floods? Let’s keep the public informed.”
He also said that in the post-disaster situation, everyone should move forward together.
He said his side is ready for this, and that party leaders and cadres have already been mobilised for search and rescue as well as other humanitarian support.
He urged that, as in past disaster events, the parties should stand united.
Prachanda said: “Based on our experience from the Koshi dam breach, the Jure landslide, and the great earthquake, let all political parties stand together.”
At the meeting, RSP Chairman Lamichhane also called for setting aside party identity and uniting on relief, rescue, and reconstruction.
He also proposed forming an all-party committee covering everything from relief and rescue to rehabilitation.
Chairman Lamichhane said: “From relief and rescue to rehabilitation, let’s form an all-party or parliamentary or all-sided committee, one that makes it easier for the government to make decisions.”
He also urged that all parties stand together and contribute through the government’s relief and rescue fund as a single channel.
