Infinix Hot 12 Play offers decent styling. The phone has a glass front, plastic back and a plastic frame build. The back panel of the phone features a rectangular camera module that houses two cameras and an LED flash. The Infinix branding is done neatly at the bottom left. The back panel also features a fingerprint sensor. Designwise, this is a much better-looking phone than its predecessor.

The phone weighs around 195 grams and is 8.32mm thick. It is available in racing black, legend white, origin blue and lucky green colours.

On the front is a huge 6.82 inches IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720* 1,612 pixels and 259 PPI density. It supports a high refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz making the use of the phone smooth and allowing more quick touch response. The display can achieve a peak brightness of up to 440 nits. There is also a punch-hole display instead of a waterdrop notch as seen in the previous generation.

Cameras

One can easily argue that cameras are not the strongest feature of Infinix Hot 12 Play. It has very basic camera settings. The main 13MP camera on the back resides together with a 2MP AI lens and an LED flash inside the rectangular camera layout. The front-facing is an 8MP selfie camera.

The front and back cameras on the phone can capture 1080p resolution videos at 30fps.

Performance and storage

Infinix Hot 12 Play runs on XOS 10 which is based on Android 11. The phone is powered by Unisoc T610 (12 nm) chipset which features an octa-core CPU that peaks at 1.8Ghz. Meanwhile, the graphical duties are handled by Mali-G57 MC2.

For the storage, the phone comes with either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage coupled with 4GB and 6GB RAM respectively. There is an option of expanding the memory with a microSD card and the phone has a dedicated slot for it. The phone also has a RAM expansion feature, with which the RAM memory can be expanded up to 11GB. This can improve the speed and performance of the device across various usage scenarios.

Battery life, connectivity and others

Infinix Hot 12 Play features a massive 6,000 mAh non-removable li-po battery. This battery power can provide 120 hours of music, 21 hours of calls, eight hours of gaming and a whopping 60 days of standby time. Unfortunately, the phone does not support fast charging and it may take a while before the phone gets fully charged.

The phone supports dual sim cards for network connectivity and supports up to 4G networks. It also supports dual Wifi for internet connectivity. The phone also features Bluetooth for wireless pairing with other devices and uses a USB Type-C 2.0 cable for charging and wired connectivity. Furthermore, the phone also features a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio connectivity. The phone also features multi-scene sound enhancement, which is an interesting feature. Upon enabling the features, it can improve the sound quality and loudness.
