India concerned over non-completion of assistance projects in Nepal: Mahat

Prakash-Sharan-Mahat

New Delhi, September 17

Nepal’s foreign minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, who is part of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s delegation currently on state visit of India, says New Delhi is concerned about the non-completion of assistance projects

Mahat, who was talking mediapersons at the Taj in New Delhi, said PM Dahal’s visit to the southern neighbour was different from past visits by Nepali leaders. He said results from the ongoing visit will be more tangible than before, and it would be visible in the short run as well.

“I found then concerned about the implementation of past agreements. PM Modi awas particularly worried about completing Indo-Nepal cooperation projects,” said Mahat.

Asked whether India was ready to welcome the adoption of a new constitution in Nepal, the minister said New Delhi had already welcomed the constitution, and it had no prescription for what needs to be done.

Mahat said, “Amending the constitution is our internal matter, and India clearly accepts this.  They said it is up to us to decide how we are to go about it.”
