Kathmandu, April 11
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal says the government’s decision to appoint Prakash Aryal as the head of Nepal Police is in accordance with the recent Supreme Court decision to appoint an IGP based on performance appraisal reports
Speaking at Parliament’s Good Governance Committee, the Prime Minister accepted that the government was late in appointing the police chief. “We were late in appointing the police chief, but we have respected the court order while doing so,” he added.
He informed the lawmakers that political parties have agreed to make future appointments based on performance.
The government on Monday night appointed Prakash Aryal as the country’s police chief after a long tussle between the members of the ruling alliance.
