Kathmandu, January 24
Nepali nationals and various organisations have committed around Rs 2.57 billion for a government-initiated hydropower development campaign called Nepalko Pani Janatako Lagani (Nepal’s Water, People’s Investment).
While people have committed around Rs 2.48 billion, institutional commitments are worth around Rs 80.96 million.
After the Ministry of Energy appealed people to invest in hydropower development, members of the public have started pledging crores of rupees daily. Nepali nationals interested in hydel development can pledge investment by filling up forms online.
The ministry has promised to invest the sum collected through the campaign in projects of national pride. Nepali nationals based abroad are also pledging investment in the hydel sector, thanks to this initiative.
