Hurrah! Nepal registers massive 7 wicket win against Kenya

Kathmandu, March 13

Nepal beat Kenya by seven wickets in the second of the two-match World Cricket League Championship series played at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Set a target of 156, the home side chased down the score in 30.2 overs. Captain Gyanendra Malla and Dipendra Airee, who was playing his second match for the national squad, scored half centuries. Airee was, however, unfortunate to not finish the run chase. Sarad Veshawker, who came in after Airee’s innings, finished the match with a big six.

It all started with Mahaboob Alam, who took two wickets with the new ball, bowled one of his most economical spells–he bowled 5 maiden overs. It was again Veshawker who claimed four tail-end wickets to send the Kenyan batsmen packing without completing their allotted 50 overs.

The win comes just a day after the African side beat Nepal by 5 wickets in a rain-affected match.

Nepal now take on Hong Kong and then the UAE in the ICC World Cricket League Championship. Top four teams of the league qualify for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2018.
