Humans are not resources but possibilities: Nepal’s business sector needs to understand

Generally, the business sector perceives humans as resources to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities within a given time frame to achieve the stated goals (either individual or institutional level). To some extent, I personally agree with the matter of humans as a resource.

Our curriculum and custom are always talking about humans as resources and to some extent utilise the human as resources rather than motivating to be the possibility, either at an individual or institutional level. I believe that human is the possibility because dream only comes true with enthusiastic and energetic people working around for a successful journey, and the business sector in Nepal and elsewhere needs to learn this.

A sea of possibilities

Employers do not just pay for their time, effort, dedication and support rather also for their growth and prosperity at both personal as well as professional levels because people are not there just to be transactional but also to be transformational.

In the business sector of today’s global village, we must believe in progressive human culture and support their dream to be successful because ultimate success is already in the hand of the organisation. If we consider humans as just a resource, it would be somehow materialistic and also ignorant of human acknowledgement, the value of their dignity and possibility. It is because human is ultimately the visionary aspect for the success ahead.

Those people who are working with the organisation are not working just for the sake of “workership” but rather working for ownership because ownership drives towards the possibility to achieve the goals.

The business sector should count all the issues associated with a human being because the workplace is the second and the best home for every stakeholder working with possible possibilities.

The reason for humans not being a resource but rather a possibility could be better understood with the help of the following points.

Internal customer

As an employee in any business sector, you are the prior customer of your product rather than anyone around you because you should be capable to sell that product to yourself. Then only, you can sell it to someone else.

If internal customers are motivated and derived to future success, nothing would be impossible because the word “impossible” itself says ‘I am possible’. To be a good internal customer, we should value human capital as the possible possibility in line with their personal goal because together we can achieve more.

The prime source of branding

Human capital (possibility) in a business sector is one of the prime and cost-free branding mechanisms because it could make everything possible and happen relating to the products and services of the concerned organisation. Every human possibility is the brand ambassador of the organisation with which they are associated.

Let’s say I am associating with XYZ Company, then I will be promoting and branding my organisation from the bottom of my heart because I will be promoting myself along with it. Hence, the human possibility is the major green banding tool for any organisation.

Vision and achievement are correlated with human possibility

A deeply rooted common belief system of the business sector is a culture, which is very difficult to change within a short span. Culture and belief systems are managed and governed by the people who are working with the particular organisation.

That is why the success and failure of the organisation are deeply rooted in what kind of cultural value and setup we have developed within our organisation by human possibility. This shows that summit of success could be possible and achieved through human capital working with the organisation. Hence, they are possibilities rather than resources.

KSA are the input for organisational output

Knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) of the human possibility are the prime input factors for a successful endeavour of the respective organisation in any business sector because physical materials and data are managed and summarised (decisions taken) by those people who will drive the organisation longer.

Human possibility is everything because they move along with ideas, critics, vision and SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound) goals. Retaining those people having needed KSA is the key to the success of any organisation because they are the change agents.

Stakeholders do not visit just because of an organisation but because of human possibilities

In this cutthroat competitive business sector, retention of the existing and welcoming new stakeholders is the major challenge to those who are the possible possibilities of the organisation. People do not only visit to buy your products and enjoy your services just because of the organisation. They visit due to those amazing leaders working along with your organisation as well. Businesses will smoothly and progressively move ahead by having good public relations with the people working along with your organisation.

Human is the one and only possibility, which will make everything possible in an organisation. There are tremendous resources, namely: money, machine, methodologies and many more to run the organisation successfully and efficiently and one of the biggest parts that will be in that combination is human capital.

Though we call a human a resource in the business sector, it is more than a resource because vision, success, achievement, critics, and logic are the amazing key to success.
