Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has assured that those who beat up on Nepali Congress Banke president Kiran Koirala will be punished. He also urged the main opposition party not to spread propaganda that Koirala was beaten up by the Nepal Communist Party.
Home Minister Thapa has assured the opposition that he has taken the case seriously and adds that the culprits will be brought to justice.
“I was made aware of the incident yesterday and I have asked the police to take necessary action. I believe the police have already arrested the culprits too and are on the lookout for more,” adds Thapa during a meeting of a parliamentary committee this afternoon.
Earlier, Sushamshu Koirala, an NC cadre, said that a group of cadres of the ruling NCP attacked Koirala and other cadres on Thursday while the party was celebrating the birth anniversary of its founder, BP Koirala.
In the attack, the district chief had broken her arm while NC cadre Bidya Prasad Khanal was injured. The party is planning to organise a protest demanding action against the accused.
