Heavy snowfall brings joy to farmers in Humla

Humla, January 29

Heavy snowfall in Humla has disrupted daily life, with roads blocked from the district headquarters Simikot to the northern region, including Namkha Rural Municipality and other areas.

Due to two consecutive days of snowfall, air services from Nepalgunj and Surkhet to Simikot have also been suspended.

Chief District Officer Tek Kumar Regmi said that despite the heavy snowfall on Magh 14, services were continued at district headquarters offices by lighting fires to keep warm.

Personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army, and government offices have intensified efforts to clear snow at Simikot Airport. In the southern region, rainfall has halted transportation.

Meanwhile, candidates from all seven political parties that have registered nominations in Humla for the upcoming House of Representatives election said they are continuing door-to-door election campaigns despite the snowfall.

Residents have expressed happiness following the snowfall, saying it has benefited crops such as barley, wheat, and oats planted in Mangsir.
