Nepal has nominated Halkara for the Academy Awards, more popularly known as the Oscars, for its 2024 edition.
Nepal’s International Film Selection Committee selected the film that has already won a few international awards for the coveted event to be held on March 10, 2024. It will be the 96th edition of the Academy Awards.
The committee led by Raju KC says the Bikram Sapkota-directed film has been selected based on technicalities, plot, presentation and characterisation. The film will compete in the international feature category.
The film shows Nepal’s current foreign employment scenario through the eyes of a postman.
The committee had called for applications for the nomination, and it had received five films – Halkara, Dakini, Bulaki, Bagan and Neerphool –by the deadline.
