Gold smuggling case: Diffusion notice issued against Jeevan Chalaune

A diffusion notice has been issued against Jeevan Chalaune in the gold smuggling case who is an absconding accused.

At the request of the Nepal Police, Interpol, the international police organization, issued a diffusion notice against Chalaune. Spokesperson of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) and SP Hobindra Bogati confirmed that a diffusion notice has been issued against Chalaune.

After more than 60 kg of gold smuggled hidden inside the brake pad was connected to the smuggling case, the CIB issued a notice for diffusion.

Interpol’s National Control Bureau (NCB), Kathmandu, headed by the IGP, had written to the Interpol General Secretariat to issue a diffusion notice against Chalaune.

After this notice is issued, it will be determined whether or not he is hiding in the member countries of Interpol, then the process of deporting him and bringing him to Nepal will be started, the police said.

It was seen that the connection between the Belgian citizen Dawa Chiring, who was involved in the gold smuggling case. The Revenue Investigation Department recovered a large amount of gold hidden inside the brake pad of a motorcycle on July 19.

At that time, it was said that almost one quintal of gold passed the customs check and was released, but later on, only 60 kg of gold was found.
