Kathmandu, April 9

Nepal Electricity Authority Executive Director Kulman Ghising has visited the 144 MW Kaligandaki hydropower project in Syangja and instructed staffers to finish the plant’s annual maintenance work on time.

According to the project, the maintenance work took 45 days last year while this year, the target is to complete it within 20 days. Maintenance work began 11 days ago, and is expected to be completed in nine more days.

Ghising, who has been credited with ending power cuts in the country, praised the staffers for efficiently running the plant throughout the year. “The Kaligandaki project played an important role in managing power this year,” Ghising said.

Ghising says he will visit more power plants in the country where annual maintenance is being carried out.
