Former State Minister Raya murdered by his household worker

Kathmandu, July 24

Police investigations have revealed that the murder of former Minister Ram Chandra Raya was committed by a 21-year-old young man employed at his home.

According to police sources, the suspect, Ram Ujjan Raya, who worked at Ram Chandra’s residence, is identified as the perpetrator. “The investigation is nearly complete. It has been established that the person who committed the murder was a young man employed at the victim’s home,” an investigation officer told OnlineKhabar.

The clothes worn by the suspect at the time of the murder were found hidden and were stained with blood, police sources said. Earlier, a trained police dog had helped recover the domestic weapon used in the crime.

On the night of the murder, Ram Ujjan had claimed to the police that three individuals had come to his house around 9:30 pm, asking him to resolve a land dispute. However, upon further investigation, it was discovered that no such individuals had come, and Ram Ujjan himself was the perpetrator.

While it is suggested that the murder was motivated by personal grievances, further investigation is ongoing, and police sources have refrained from providing more details at this time.

A team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and additional teams from the district and Madhesh Province were deployed for the investigation.

The murder occurred on Sunday night in Chandranagar Municipality-1, Sarlahi, while Raya was there for farming. The 80-year-old Raya had served as the Minister of Land Reform 30 years ago from the Rastriya Prajatanrik Party (RPP).
