Former Prime Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Baburam Bhattarai has proposed that Nepal adopt the Gregorian Calendar for official purposes.
Bhattarai, in his tweet on Wednesday, said that Nepal needs to adopt the Gregoria calendar for official purposes if it is to attract foreign investment and tourism.
“Let’s make the AD calendar that was born in the West, but now used worldwide, our administrative and economic calendar. Otherwise, our conversations related to prosperity, foreign investment and tourism will not hold water,” said Bhattarai. He proposed that the Bikram Sambat and the Nepal Sambat calendars be recognised as ‘cultural calendars’.
In his New Year wish, Bhattarai hoped that the second decade of the new Millenium provides alternatives to leaders such as Trump and Oli.
