Kathmandu, March 3
Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bharat Mohan Adhikari has been cremated at the Aryaghat in Kathmandu.
Adhikari’s three daughters lit the funeral pyre at a ceremony organised on the banks of the Bagmati river. Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwar Pokharel draped the deceased’s body in the national flag.
Earlier in the day, the government decided to accord state honours to Adhikari, who passed away at the age of 82 on Saturday night. Adhikari, who introduced that UML’s flagship pension program, is survived by his spouse and three daughters.
