Chitwan, September 27
A cruise ship stationed in the Narayani River in Chitwan was swept away by floodwaters on Sunday afternoon and crashed into a pillar of a bridge over the river.
Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Poudel confirmed that the cruise ship had become lodged against the bridge pillar on the Gaindakot side.
“It is stuck against the pillar on the Gaindakot side. The water level is rising, and the risk is also increasing,” Poudel said.
He said the river’s flow was continuing to increase.
According to Poudel, vehicular movement across the bridge has currently been suspended as a precautionary measure.
