Five dead, including driver, in SUV accidents in Bajhang

Five people, including a driver, lost their lives in two separate SUV accidents in Bajhang district.

The first accident occurred on Thursday night at Sukagad in Talkot Rural Municipality-2, claiming four lives, including the driver. Another accident at Kotdewal claimed one more life, bringing the total fatalities to five.

According to Inspector Lokendra Singh Thagunna of the District Police Office, a SUV (registration number Se 1 Ja 843) met with an accident in Sukagad. The deceased have been identified as Shamsher Malla (33) of Kedarsyu Rural Municipality-1, Bom Bahadur Dhami (36) of Talkot Rural Municipality-4, 72-year-old Jogeni Devi Dhami, and five-year-old Aakriti Dhami, the daughter of Bom Bahadur Dhami.

Three victims, including the driver, died on the spot, while the five-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries on the way to the district headquarters for treatment. The SUV, traveling from Talkot Rural Municipality towards Chainpur, plunged approximately 200 meters off the road at around 8:30 pm on Friday.

In a separate incident at around 9 pm on the same night, a SUV (registration number Sudurpaschim Pradesh 01-001 Ja 1398) met with an accident at Kotdewal in Bajhang. The 42-year-old driver, Dharma Thapa, died on the spot, police reported.

This SUV was en route from Bhatekhola in Mashta Rural Municipality to Ranada.
