Kathmandu, February 24
Federal Alliance, a coalition of ‘pro-identity’ parties, including the Madheshi Morcha, have said the government’s recent announcement to conduct civic election in May is unacceptable.
A meeting of the alliance in Kathmandu also decided to start discussion on withdrawing support for the ruling coalition.
Any move towards election is not acceptable without amending the constitution, the alliance said, adding that it will intensify protests in the days to come.
The alliance has formed a nine-member team under Forum Nepal co-chair Rajendra Shestha to propose future protest programmes. Brijesh Chandra Lal, Keshav Jha, Ram Naresh Raya, Om Gurung, Bijay Sainju, Durga Rai, Dal Mardan Kami and Pre, Bahadur Khati are members of the team.
