EU Inclusion Run 2026 concludes with around 400 participants

Kathmandu, November 8

Around 400 people, including persons with disabilities, took part in the European Union Inclusion Run, held at Narayan Chaur, Naxal on Saturday. Organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, the run celebrated inclusion in sport and offered participants the opportunity to experience adaptive sports.

Participants took part in a team-based run, interspersed with activities such as wheelchair basketball, blind cricket and football. Speaking at the run, EU Ambassador to Nepal Charles Whiteley stressed that inclusion is best demonstrated through action.

The event was organised in partnership with Child Nepal, the Cricket Association of the Blind Nepal, the Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association, and the Nepal Boccia Association for the Disabled. The run is coordinated by Meltdown.

Child Nepal, United Community Nepal, and Protection Nepal are currently implementing the EU-funded Sidelines to the Stadium project, which provides football training to marginalised young people from urban communities in Nepal and helps them build pathways towards professional football.

The Cricket Association of the Blind Nepal, the Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association, and the Nepal Boccia Association for the Disabled are implementing Mainstreaming Inclusive Sports in Nepal, which promotes disability sport through advocacy, sports training and the development of inclusive sports venues.
