Inaruwa, May 28
A wild elephant calf was found dead in the Gahane stream area in Barahakshetra Municipality-2, Sunsari.
According to Police Inspector Hemraj Oli of the District Police Office, Sunsari, the calf died after getting trapped in muddy water while moving toward the forest with a herd from the Jabdi area on Wednesday night.
Locals spotted the dead calf in the stream on Thursday morning and informed the police. The District Police Office, Sunsari, said an investigation into the incident is underway.
