Kathmandu, September 29
Election Commission has urged political parties to adopt the federal structure as per the 2015 constitution in their organisational structure.
The commission’s Law and Political Party Management Division Chief Laxmi Prasad Gautam says the commission has recently asked the parties to explain why they could not adopt the new model.
According to the directive, the parties are required to submit details of their provincial structure to the Election Commission Office in the districts of provincial capitals. It has been one and a half months since the directive was issued, but no parties have shown up with the details in any province.
Meanwhile, new parties applying for registration should submit such details compulsorily, according to the commission’s spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha.
For the old ones, however, the commission has not given any deadline for the parties to revise their organisational structure.
