Drinking water services have been restored for 180 flood-affected households in Baireni, Galchhi Rural Municipality-6, Dhading, after repairs to the Maheshkhola-Bhattatar-Jintetar deep-boring water supply scheme were completed.

The Nepal Red Cross Society, Dhading District Chapter, carried out the repair project under its Rasuwa Flood Response Program, with financial assistance of Rs 446,680.

Galchhi Rural Municipality Chairperson Kedarnath Khatiwada inaugurated the restored water supply scheme at a programme held after the completion of the repairs. He commended the Red Cross for helping restore access to drinking water for residents affected by the floods.

Durlabh Kumar Tamang, chairperson of the Nepal Red Cross Society Dhading District Chapter, said restoring essential services such as drinking water was an important part of humanitarian response during disasters.

Red Cross District Program Coordinator Saroj Thapa said the restoration would help residents overcome the severe water shortage caused by the floods and return to normal life.

Nepal Red Cross General Secretary Rishi Raman Khanal said flood-response activities were continuing, including shelter and food assistance, WASH services, health and psychosocial support, family reunification and cash assistance. Over the past month, WASH services have reached 2,200 affected households, while 18 water tanks have been installed.
