Kathmandu, March 10

Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel has accused the president of his party Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, of trying to partner with some leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, thereby weakening his own party.

Referring to a recent dinner meeting reportedly held between Deuba and the NCP’s executive chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, which allegedly agreed to nominate Bamdev Gautam for the National Assembly, Deuba’s rival Paudel says such activities prevent the party from playing its active role on the opposition side.

“I am concerned about where our party is heading to,” he said, “We have to be clear about our views so that we can win two-thirds majority seats (in the next elections),” Paudel told Onlinekhabar during an interview, “But we have failed to play our role as the opposition. I feel our leadership has failed to do so.”
